Practical dream house
A dream house is a lot like a dream girl: both tend to be permanently perfect and shiny. Unfortunately, it’s very rare to come across either in real life. The prettiest girls have their bad hair days and even the seemingly perfect house can have its glaring defects. The trick is in knowing how to compromise. Know the difference between necessity and petty desires.
When buying a house, list down characteristics one is looking for. Consider the practical elements absolutely needed in a house— things such as the place’s distance from school or office, the number of bathrooms and bedrooms to accommodate the people who will be living there, or accessibility for elderly or handicap family members. Other elements such as wooden floors, a pool, or a nice view should take secondary priority because these belong to the category of wants.
This does not mean that one has to forget about their dream house. The wooden floors, pool, or nice view are just as desirable in buying a house. However, the determining factor will be one’s budget. When working inside a budget, it is best to find a home that caters to one’s needs perfectly with as many of your wants as is practical.
